Talking to Mom

Hello sibs!
How about this idea for telling mom.
We send her a beautiful invitation to come to a party - and she will be the guest of honor. This weekend or so.
We  can do a few things like :
Siign everyone's names
Tell her to bring her bikini
Ask her to start now to get replacement people to do her tasks for her 'people' !
Count out the days and add that number

Thoughts?
I think she willl enjoy something to look at to remind her and for anticipation.

  1. Splendid - however please wait to tell her until after she returns from her trip to the west coast. Meeting up w/ Clare @ BTF and then attending Great Uncle Ted's 80th b'day party. She leaves 6/27/14 & returns 7/2/14. Thank you!

  3. Oh Alex How HARD! - what is this little boy's name? - I've just begun and will continue to pray for him and his parents and with your permission will add him to our prayer chain - it's huge! I don't even need his name if that works better for you. May I?

  4. I think if would be thoughtful, helpful l & comforting if a "glossy" paper pamphlet displaying photos / amenities / accommodations / accessories / along with a link of the place was "snail mailed" to Mom as part of the "invitation". xoxx Bee

  6. I looked into the train to get her to NC. It looked dreadful. long layovers, overnight etc. even a sleeper car didn't seem worth it really. Fkying sounds good to me, I am on cheap fare sites auto announcements. if bee can get her to a bigger airport we might be able to find a very good price, like a couple hundred Ibet, and split 9 ways we could all do it together.

  7. Actually folks, Kenny has suggested that he might like to rent a large vehicle and drive - Mom would LOVE that! So, before we jump to buying her ticket let's "sit on it a bit" okay? With 4 drivers it should be pretty easy. I hope that it is okay w/ all of you that we have invited Laura to come if she is still part of our family and she accepted of course. So that make the count from WI = 6.

  8. ooo, that sounds wonderful! I like that so much better than a solo trip on a plane. I'm afraid she'll ditch us and head to New Mexico!

  9. Hey, what if we don't tell her?? I mean, don't tell her everything. Maybe "a contingent" will be there? It's someplace in the US, where it's at least in the 50s by day, in January. We're driving you there, so pack what you want. It's already planned so you can't say no. sorry.

  10. I'm not too comfortable with that idea though I'm willing to suspend till all have commented. Mom doesn't like surprises - half the fun for her is all the thinking/planning... Just a thought. Bee

  11. Yeah, I can see that. I guess I was hoping for both: anticipation AND surprise. She does like to "discover" things. A sort of layering, and unraveling of the party is what I have in mind, like following a yarn thread all through the house to find one's stocking present.
